The Department of Management Studies was established in the year 2005 affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. And from 2007 Batch onwards the course is affiliated to Anna University, Coimbatore. |

The Courses |
The MBA programme offered is a two year full-time management programme affiliated to Anna University, Coimbatore, with an intake of 90 students per batch, as per AICTE norms. The Department offers opportunities to students to specialize in following areas |

Course Curriculum |
The MBA programme, as per the University norms, consists of Six Trimesters. During the first Trimester the students are exposed to General Management papers and during the second and third Trimester the students are incorporated to core papers of Management like Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, Systems and Production. At the end of the Third Trimester students are exposed to industries for practical knowledge and are asked to submit a report on their experiences of the Industrial Study. During the Fourth and Fifth Trimesters students learn Management papers in their areas of specialization, And during the Sixth Trimester, students are permitted for research work with an objective to gain practical knowledge. |

| Association Activities |
The Department has framed an Association named “ AIM - Association of Intellectual Managers”, with an objective to focus on students development on other activities other than the academics. The association from the date of incorporation has organized various programmes like Exhibitions (Buyers Beware – Duplicate products), Game Shows, Quiz Programmes and Sports meet at Intra College level and hence in future the Association is Unique in extending the same at State and National Level. Department libraryThe Department has its own library where frequently referred Texts, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers and project reports are kept for the benefit of the students and the faculty.Career Guidance and value addition Apart from various co curricular and extra curricular activities, Students are exposed to carrier oriented and guidance programmes, to update their value systems in order to commemorate with the current industrial practices and to keep them day-fit for placements. |
Faculty Advisor Role A Faculty Advisor is appointed for every 20 students in the class strength of 60. They play a vital role in maintaining the entire database of the individual students during their period of study. Parents meeting are conducted once in every three months by the faculty advisors inorder to update the parents about their students’ performance. Timely counseling and expertise is shared with the students to keep them motivated and also to keep their morality high. |
Guidance for paper presentation The students are encouraged to participate in seminars and conferences, by preparing and submitting papers on relevant topics. The participants may present either in favour of the topic or against the topic. And an abstract regarding the same has to be prepared and sent to the concerned for selection and on selection, full paper with all information has to be submitted and presented on the day of conduct of seminars or conferences.
In-plant Training and Procedures and Main Research Projects Students of 1st MBA are to under go mandatory in-plant training for a period of one to two months as per the Anna University Curriculum, Inorder to expose themselves to practical happenings in the industry and society. They are supposed to record their experiences and are to submit the same as a mini project report, which will constitute grades in their academic profile. Students of 2nd MBA are to under go mandatory main project research, where they are to take up a problem of research in the areas of management. During the period of three months, students are to visit their concerned project company for analyzing the problem and collecting details and data regarding, to fulfill their problem. Report regarding the research work has to be submitted to the University and Viva Voce will be held, where the students’ research work will be graded and added to their academic profile. Two Students currently of 1st MBA were authorized for their efficiency of in-plant training during the period from august to September 2009. The details are under mentioned. Revathy. N Die castings are among the highest volume, mass –produced items manufactured by the metalworking industry, and they can be found in thousands of consumers, commercial and industrial products. In modern applications, using computerized controls, die casters produced precision and high-strength products at a rapid production rate. Even though the production of die-casting products is higher, there occur several problems during production. One of the constraints to be mainly concerned is quality maintenance. Generally, the rejection of items occurs only due to minimal but often occurred defects. To over come such a problems the major contribution to be made on those defects. By analyzing the causes of such effects the number of rejections rate can be minimized. Adoption of quality tool like statistical process control makes the process easier. | | Balraj. K. P Advanced quality management systems is the primary and very earlier method for effective planning of all resources of textile dyeing units, its made up variety of purpose is linked together material planning, quality planning, operation planning and capacity requirements. Output of these advanced quality management systems is the higher than the existing quality management techniques and it also inter related with financial such as business plan, purchase commitment, budget and inventory projection. Generally, the quality management systems build around the material quality, operation quality and accurate planning of every one activities in the textile dyeing factory such as scouring, bleaching, dyeing, neutralizing and drying etc,. The major problem of production scheduling term is very easy to compare the existing quality management techniques by using these kinds of advanced quality management systems. | | Brindha. R In this paper we intend to explore the concept of customer relationship management. A research is conducted in a horn manufacturing multinational firm called Roots Industries India Ltd. The research mainly focuses upon the firm’s management of its relationship with its distributors. The organizations main customers’ relationship management practices such service, quality, price level, replacement of good and many more are explored from its distributors. |
