About the Department

 

The Department of Civil Engineering was started in the year 2009. The Department has state-of-the-art facilities equipped with the latest instruments, equipments, and software for imparting technical knowledge. Experienced and well-qualified faculty members, well-equipped laboratories and workshops are the strength of this department.

The Civil Engineering Department will excel in undergraduate instruction, in all sub-areas of civil engineering. The Department will make significant contributions to the economic development of the state, region and nation.

The laboratories such as Surveying Laboratory, Environmental Engineering Laboratory,  Soil Mechanics Laboratory, Concrete and Highway Engineering Laboratory, CABD Laboratory, Hydraulics Engineering Laboratory, Strength of Materials Laboratory.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)      

The postgraduates of structural engineering will be:                   

PEO1: Successful consultants in structural engineering and solve complex real life issues related to analysis, design and maintenance of structures under various environmental conditions by performing quality research.

PEO2: Professionals with good communication, leadership, ethics and social responsibility and formulate solutions those are technically sound, economically feasible and socially acceptable.

PEO3: Knowledgeable  and skilled in structural engineering which will enable them to have a career and professional accomplishment in the public or private sector organizations and adapt to evolving technologies through life-long learning and innovation.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs) 

PO 1: Research aptitude: Independently carry out research, investigation and development work to solve practical problems.

PO 2: Technical Documentation: Write and present a substantial technical report and document.

PO 3: Technical Competence: Demonstrate a degree of mastery over the areas of structural analysis and design, aseismic, retrofitting, composite structures as per the specialization of the program.

PO 4: Engineering Design: Analyze a system, component or process in the areas of structural engineering using classical methods and advanced tools.

PO 5: The Engineer and Society: Design a system, component or process in the areas of structural engineering as per codal recommendations.

PO 6: Environment and Sustainability:Apply appropriate managerial and technical skills in the domain of structural design incorporating safety and sustainability to become a successful professional / entrepreneur through lifelong learning.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)                           

The students will be able to:

PSO 1:  Critically analyze multifaceted structural engineering problems, apply independent judgment for creating information and make innovative advances in a theoretical, practical and policy context.

PSO 2: Evaluate potential solutions and arrive at technically feasible, economically viable and environmentally sound solutions for structural engineering problems, with due consideration of health, safety, and socio cultural factors.
