Profile
Dr. U.S. RAGUPATHY received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 1999 from the University of Madras, Master’s degree in Applied Electronics from Anna University, Chennai, in 2004, and Ph.D. in the area of Medical Image Processing from Anna University, Chennai, in 2011. He has put in twenty-five years of experience in teaching and research. He received the Best Faculty Award and Best Researcher Award from Kongu Engineering College for his outstanding contribution to the students and the institution. He also received the Research Award (2012–14) from the University Grants Commission, Government of India, and Best Professor Award from ASDF.
His areas of academic interest include Image Processing and Deep Learning Techniques. He has published 93 papers in international journals and conferences and authored two books. He is a reviewer for 11 international journals. He is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education.
He has delivered 200+ expert lectures in the area of his technical expertise, and OBE and NBA SAR preparation, at various colleges on invitation.
He has guided 19 scholars for their Master’s degree, and 10 have completed Ph.D. under his supervision.
He was the Principal Investigator for three R&D projects sponsored by UGC and DST, Government of India, worth about Rs. 47 lakh. He also received a MODROB grant to a tune of Rs. 11 lakh. He carried out several training and consultancy activities for various industries, including TNEB and the GoI Cordite Factory.
He visited countries like Malaysia, Singapore, and Dubai in an educational context and jointly guided 2 students for Internship-cum-Project with UTP, Malaysia.
He served as Head of the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering for more than nine years and performed as Chief Coordinator (Accreditation) of Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, for about 3 years. KEC obtained the highest grade A++ in NAAC during his tenure. He served as Director, Quality Assurance, for KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore. He was a member of the Academic Council and Board of Studies of Kongu and KPRIET. Also, a member of Advisory and Boards of Studies of four other autonomous colleges.
He was instrumental in promoting Outcome-Based Education at Kongu, KPRIET, and several other colleges across the nation. He conducted NBA Mock Audits on request for more than 25 institutions covering both Tier 1 and Tier 2 categories. Currently, he is serving as Principal of Nandha Engineering College (Autonomous), Erode. He is also the Principal Investigator for establishing the AICTE IDEA Lab.
