Civil Engineering
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Civil Engineering, established in 2009 with an intake of 60 students, currently offers undergraduate programs in Civil Engineering and Postgraduate programs in Structural Engineering. The department has been accredited by NBA during the year 2016 for duration of 3 years.
The department is supported by a qualified faculty team with various specializations in Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Geotechnical Engineering, and Transportation Engineering. The department has well-equipped laboratory facilities and offers a broad range of consultancy services like material testing, concrete mix design, water sample analysis, NDT test etc.
The laboratories such as Surveying Laboratory, Environmental Engineering Laboratory, Soil Mechanics Laboratory, Concrete and Highway Engineering Laboratory, CABD Laboratory, Hydraulics Engineering Laboratory, Strength of Materials Laboratory.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs)
PO 1: Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO 2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO 3: Design / Development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO 4: A Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data,and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PROJECTS
As per the University regulation, the UG students have to submit a project work in the final year. Four students form a group and each group is guided by an internal staff. They are allowed to their project work in our laboratory. The students are motivated and stream lined.
The Final year students are encouraged to undertake design project works. Students get the experience in designing and analyzing. This makes the students to attain better knowledge in understanding the new fields concept and techniques, softwares.

Additionally, it covers field tests on soil.

Project Based Learning
IN-PLANT TRAINING
Industrial and In-Plant training is being made compulsory for second and third year students during summer vacations. This not only helps the students in acquiring knowledge about new construction works but also acts as an insight into management aspects. Students are expected to undergo training for a period ranging from 15 days to 30 days in an industry and submit a detailed report for evaluation after completion of their training. In and around Tamil Nadu any Construction Companies.
